NEW HAVEN, Conn. (April 30, 2019) — Wilmington University standout Rosa’Lynn Burton on Tuesday was named the 2019 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Softball Player of the Year, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. In addition to being named the league’s top player, Burton was also named to the All-CACC First Team as an outfielder. The voting for the league’s major awards and all-conference teams were conducted by the league’s 14 head coaches in the sport.
In addition to Burton, other major award winners included Caldwell University’s Nora Conway (CACC Rookie of the Year), WilmU’s Caitlyn Whiteside (CACC Pitcher of the Year) and Georgian Court University’s Nicole Degenhardt (CACC Coach of the Year).
Burton, who last week was named to the NFCA Top 25 Watch List for the Division II National Player-of-the-Year Award, had a stellar regular season for the Wildcats in leading them to second place in the conference. She leads the league with a .524 batting average, with one home run, 23 runs batted in, 55 runs scored and 53 stolen bases. She also leads the conference runs, hits (77), stolen bases, and on-base percentage (.551).
